About Me
I am a lifelong resident of Lewis County. I have served on non-profit boards in our County for the last 20 years. Over the last 30 years I have coached youth sports in our area. I have been involved with the Lewis County PUD by volunteering on the Broadband Champion Group and the Customer Review Board advocating for our community. I love our community and strongly believe that we can only grow and stay strong as a community if we choose to get involved and invest in it.
My focus is on responsible budgeting, affordable rates and being customer focused. Responsible budgeting can be achieved by strategically balancing what it costs to responsibly operate a utility while keeping electric rates as low as possible. The utility should be committed to affordable rates that are needed in order to cover the essential and ordinary costs of operating a utility. The PUD wouldn’t exist without the customers it serves. Therefore, the PUD should ensure it maintains excellent customer communications and responsiveness to issues. If elected, I promise to be the voice of my constituents and work towards improving our utility.
Campaign Pillars
Responsible
budgeting
Prudent financial management is crucial for any local government entity, but it takes on even greater importance in the context of a rural area like Lewis county. As a commissioner, I will be entrusted with overseeing the utility district's budget and ensuring the efficient, judicious allocation of funds to meet the community's essential infrastructure and service needs. This requires a keen understanding of the district's revenue streams, operating costs, and capital improvement requirements. I am willing to make tough decisions, prioritize spending, and find creative ways to maximize the impact of every taxpayer dollar. At the same time, I will strive for transparency in the budgeting process, regularly communicating with constituents about financial matters and soliciting their input. Responsible budgeting is not just a practical necessity, but a core principle that should underpin our vision for improving and sustaining critical services in our community.
Maintaining affordable rates
Maintaining affordable utility rates is a critical priority for any public utility district, especially in rural areas where residents often face unique economic challenges. As a commissioner, I understand the importance of ensuring that all community members have access to essential services like electricity, water, and waste management at reasonable prices. Affordable rates promote fairness and equity, allowing all ratepayers to access the services they need without undue financial strain. As your commissioner, I will be a tireless advocate for rate structures that balance the utility's operational needs with the community's affordability concerns. Through careful budgeting, strategic investments, and innovative approaches, we can work together to sustain a public utility district that is financially sound yet accessible to all.
Customer focus
Providing exceptional customer service should be a top priority for any public utility district, especially in a small, rural community. As a commissioner, I recognize that the residents we serve are not just anonymous ratepayers, but our friends and neighbors who rely on us to deliver essential services with care and responsiveness. When a customer contacts our office with a question, concern, or request, they deserve to be met with empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to addressing their needs in a timely manner. Beyond that, we should also proactively reach out to customers, whether it's through community events, newsletters, or personal visits, to gather feedback, communicate important updates, and demonstrate our dedication to their satisfaction. After all, a public utility is a public service, and the level of care we provide can make a real difference in people's lives and the overall vitality of the community. As your commissioner, I will work to ensure a culture of customer-centric excellence throughout our organization, ensuring that every interaction leaves ratepayers feeling valued, heard, and confident in the essential services we deliver.
